Obituary for Alice Nell Prow

Ms. Alice Nell Prow, age 84, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at her home.

Alice was born on December 6, 1936 in Mountain Grove, Mo., the daughter of Henry Van Buren Prow and Twila Gladys (Sanders) Prow.

Alice was a 1955 graduate of Mountain Grove High School. Alice started her 43-year career with DeLong’s Steel Fabrication Plant in 1972, as a Switchboard Operator and worked her way up to a Purchasing Agent.

Alice was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church. There, she served many roles including serving as a Deacon and was involved in many church organizations. She had a heart for serving other and devoted many hours to volunteer work with Villa Marie Nursing Home and Hospice. Alice also mentored children one hour per week for several years. She would always say “Smiles, hugs, and knowing that she made a difference in the life of a child was payment in full for her.” She was also a past member of the American Business Women’s Association and the Purchasing Agent Association.

Alice was an avid animal lover, and she always made sure she had a furry companion. She had several dogs and animals growing up through the years, two of her more recent dogs were, Miss B and Macy and two parakeets. Alice also enjoyed flowers and reading. Alice will be remembered for her kind heart and sense of humor.

Survivors include many friends, neighbors, and her loving church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Freeman Mortuary. The general public is welcome to attend the visitation while following social distancing guidelines.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Rod Maples officiating.

Graveside services and interment will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Mountain Grove, Missouri.

A webcast of the funeral service will begin on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. for friends that are not able to attend by going to her memorial page on Freeman Mortuary’s website. Friends may mail sympathy cards to the funeral home or leave condolences online to be given to her family.
