Obituary for Ashley King

Ashley Marie King, 23, of Jefferson City, MO passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022.

She was born on August 30, 1998 in Jefferson City to James Bunton and Jammie Ferguson. A newlywed, Ashley married her soulmate and best friend, Maurice King, on February 25, 2022.

Ashley was a 2019 graduate of Jefferson City Academic Center and was employed with Sweet Smoke BBQ. She was a member and baptized at Solid Rock Family Church.

Ashley has always been a great leader, in which she worked in management for several years, Ashley was known for her great personality, her infectious smile, and her kind and compassionate spirit. Ashley was silly and a lot of fun, but she was also stern and mature. She had high confidence and attitude, but she was humble and sweet. She enjoyed and cherished even the simple things in life. Ashley took pride in her family she and Maurice created and had a goal to start traveling and to give her little family a different view of the world. They enjoyed visiting family in Texas, Tennessee and Alabama. Ashley embraced her role as a caring and fun-loving wife and mother, and always gave of her time and heart to family and friends. Her favorite quote was, “Learn from yesterday, Live for today, Hope for tomorrow”

Survivors include: her husband, Maurice King of Jefferson City; children, Aryiah Bunton and Amari King; step-children, Deonte' King, Jada King, Jaliyah King and Jordan King; father, James Bunton (Jamie) of Rolla; mother, Jammie Ferguson of Jamestown; aunt-mom, Allysia Waldrop of Jefferson City; siblings, Brandon Putt, MaLuanna Stokes, Olivia Waldrop, Anita Johns, Jeremiah Driver, Nevaeh Hicks, Hailey Gromowski, Lacy Burkhart, Kenneth Grady, Jordan Bunton, Britany Forster, and Peyton Forster; father-in-law, Aaron King Sr. of St. Louis; brother-in-law, Aaron King Jr. of St. Louis; sister-in-law, Kyiaria King of St. Louis; aunts, Treaka King-Young of Jefferson City, Carla King Holmes, Odelphia King of St. Louis, and Sherry Patton of Rolla; and a host of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her brother, JD Bunton and her mother-in-law, Patricia King.

Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 12:00 until 1:00 pm Friday, June 3, 2022.
A Celebration of Ashley’s Life will follow at 1:00 pm in the Freeman Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Ashley King Memorial Fund, for her children.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
