Obituary for Barbara Morgan

Barbara Sue Morgan, age 77, formerly of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at The Castlewood Senior Living in Nixa, Mo.

She was born on November 23, 1942 in Campbell, Mo., the daughter of Louie Ward and Velma Lois (Borders) Kirkwood. She was married on July 8, 1960 in Campbell, Mo. to Colonel Robert A. “Bob” Morgan who preceded her in death on September 17, 2019.

Barbara was a 1960 graduate of Campbell High School. She was a hard worker and had many fond memories of working with her sisters at the family grocery store. She met her husband while working in the cotton fields and was known to always pick the cleanest cotton, so hers was always placed on top before going to the gin.

Barbara was a member of Concord Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and loved spending time scrapbooking and crocheting. In her later years, Barbara was an excellent tennis player and bowler and she regularly enjoyed lunch with her many friends.

Survivors include her two sons, Robert Brian Morgan (Carrie) and Jeffrey Neal Morgan (Dana), all of Ozark, MO; three sisters, Una Carpenter of Springdale, AR, Mary Lou Cox of Denver, NC and Betty Coffel of Snellville, GA; six grandchildren, Hailey (Morgan) Hale, Jacob Morgan, Colten Morgan, Corbin Morgan, Madison Morgan, and Macy Morgan; and two great-grandsons, Emmett Hale and Elliott Hale.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of nearly 60 years; and siblings, Bill Kirkwood, J. Ray Kirkwood, Jack Kirkwood, Joe Kirkwood and Shirley Curry.
