Obituary for Betty Crabtree
Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Crabtree, 94, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 at St. Joseph Bluffs surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born January 6, 1925 in Burlington, VT the daughter of Eugene (1873-1945) and Maude (Hathaway) Newcombe (1886-950).
She was married to John M. Crabtree on June 29, 1946 at Mount Vernon Congregational Church in Boston, MA. John passed away in 1989.
John and Elizabeth had two sons, Thomas John Crabtree of Bend, OR and James Newcombe Crabtree (Sarah) of Jefferson City, MO. She had five grandchildren, Laura married to William Poncy, Stefani Crabtree, Nathan married to Alyssa Crabtree (of Tom), Sally married to Nicholas Lepper and Peter married to Michelle Crabtree (of James). She is also survived by four great-grandchildren; Caroline Crabtree, Beckett Lepper, Elizabeth Lepper and Amelia Crabtree.
She had two brothers who preceded her in death, Eugene A. (Jack) Newcombe (1923-1990) and Richard V. Newcombe (1916-1963).
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June l, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church, 238 Madison Street, Jefferson City, MO with the Reverend Barry Williams and the Reverend Dr. R.W. Beard officiating.
A private interment will be held at Bellerive Gardens Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
Memorial gifts can be made to First Presbyterian Church or The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
