Obituary for Bill Roesger Sr.

William Henry “Bill” Roesger, Sr., age 72, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022 at River City Living Community.

He was born on July 11, 1950 in Cedar City, Mo., to Ernest Reissig “Dago” and Mildred Muriel (Bryan) Roesger. In 1968, he graduated from Jefferson City High School. He was united in marriage to Joy Eileen Campbell on January 15, 1972 at the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, Mo.

Bill was a hardworking man. He began working in The Shoe Factory while attending high school. He later worked as a detailer for Chrysler/Dodge, and finished his professional career in a management position with Harmon Glass (formerly Valley Glass).

In his younger years, he enjoyed dirt track racing at Capital Speedway. He loved to tinker, becoming skilled in woodworking, building and refinishing furniture and mechanics. Bill was an outdoorsman. He played on a softball league for many years, spent many weekends at various campgrounds with his family and enjoyed hunting Missouri wildlife. Bill was an avid gun collector and was a member of the United Sportsman’s Club.

Above all, Bill loved spending time with his family, travelling to Branson with his wife and attending his grandkids’ sporting events. He was strong in his convictions, outspoken and caring. Bill provided his children and grandchildren with a great example of a “good man”. He was a positive role model to, not only his children, but their friends as well. The family home was always open to all and he treated the friends of his children as if they were his own. He was the true patriarch of his family and had a way of making everyone feel safe, protected and loved.

Survivors include: his wife of nearly 51 years, Joy Roesger; his two children, William “Bill” Roesger, Jr. (Lauren) of Jefferson City, Mo. and Jill Roesger (Curtis Nickerson) of Jefferson City, Mo.; and nine grandchildren, Tassie Scott, Bri Scott, William Henry “Trey” Roesger III, Christiana Nickerson, Mark Hunt, Jr., Khallin Hunt, Mariah Nickerson, Jaela Nickerson and Corde Nickerson.
