Obituary for Bonnie J. Case

Bonnie Jean Case, age 87, of Centertown MO, formerly of Longmont, CO passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 19, 1932 in Hebron, NE the daughter of Ernest and Ida (Ensley) Moxham. She was married on March 21, 1952 in Las Cruces, NM to Calvin Case who is surviving.

Bonnie graduated valedictorian from Chester High School in Chester, NE and after getting married continued to move to several communities across the country in which she quickly made homes.

She was truly a “jack of all trades” with a tremendous work ethic. In addition to being an incredible wife and mother through military and railroad relocations, she was quick to find a job in almost any field to help support those she loved. She loved a challenge as well as learning, and sharing her knowledge with others. Her teaching included piano and organ lessons, accounting classes, and also remedial children's classes. She was avid about keeping up with current technology.

Faith was incredibly important to her. She was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church in Centertown, MO and Bullhead City Christian Church in AZ. She was very musically gifted and sang or played organ and piano in the churches she attended. She was the former co-president of the “Hix ‘N’ Chix” square dance club, and enjoyed playing the organ for the Boulder County fair.

Bonnie had several hobbies that allowed her to instill many wonderful values in her children. She was an accomplished seamstress and in all forms of needle work. She enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing. She spent spare time completing crosswords, reading mysteries, and drinking a good cup of hot coffee. She had fond memories of sharing chocolate stars with her grandfather. Her family will remember her most for her bravery, and her courageous battle with cancer which she fought head on from day one.

Survivors include: her husband of 68 years, Calvin Case of Centertown, MO; three children, Carol Scheer and her husband Tom of Arlington, TX, Linda Hammett and her husband Darrell of Severance, CO, and Lori Newton and her husband Aaron of Jefferson City, MO; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Alan Case and Ron Case; her brother, Dale Moxham; and her sisters, Betty Eichman and Levene Moxham.
