Obituary for Bonnie Lawson

Bonnie Louise Lawson, age 82, of New Bloomfield, Mo., passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 6, 2022.

Bonnie was born on July 3, 1939 in Miller County, Mo. a daughter of Joseph Arthur and Grace Ann (Munch) Morrow.

A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Bonnie was a 1957 graduate of New Bloomfield High School.

It was during her time in high school that she met the love of her life, Dale Turner Lawson. Shortly after her graduation, they were married on June 9, 1957 in New Bloomfield, Mo. They were blessed with 64 wonderful years of marriage before Dale preceded her in death just a few weeks ago on December 23, 2021. Her family finds comfort that they were only separated briefly in this world and are now together in heaven.

Bonnie worked briefly with the New Bloomfield Schools as a teachers aid until she became a homemaker. She truly cherished the role of caring for her husband and children. Family was always her main priority and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her generous nature even extended into the community where she would deliver some of her cooked meals to others.

Bonnie was a woman of strong faith and a longtime member of New Bloomfield United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women. She was also a charter member of the New Bloomfield Historical Society.

Bonnie enjoyed socializing with her friends and attending her weekly Friday Bridge Club. She was an avid reader and could often be found engrossed in a good novel or different biographies. Bonnie enjoying cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs with Dale. Some of her favorite memories were trips she took with Dale and the kids in their younger years. One of her favorite places she visited was the Holy Land in 1981.

Survivors include: three daughters, Dawn Glick (Allen) of New Bloomfield, Mo., Dalene Baker (Randy) of New Bloomfield, Mo. and Dezra Lawson (Rocky) of Holts Summit, Mo.; one sister, Shirley Smith of Jefferson City, Mo; brother-in-law, Larry Lawson (Linda) of New Bloomfield, Mo.; sister-in-law, Carol Brockman of New Bloomfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Doug Glick, Justin Glick, Ashley Cramer, Tia Draffen, Erin Brown, Dane Baker, Nikki Andrews and Brooke Gruenloh; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Dale; one sister, Ethel Abbott; and two brothers, Morris Morrow and Joseph Morrow, Jr.

Visitation will be at the New Bloomfield United Methodist Church from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Thursday at the New Bloomfield United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jeannie Martin Dudenhoeffer officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the New Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 323 Redwood Drive, New Bloomfield, Mo., 65063.
