Candi Sue Hagler, a bright light in Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away at the age of 49 on April 30th, 2023 at the University Hospital in Columbia, Mo.
Born on October 4, 1973, a crisp fall day in Winona, Minnesota, Candi was the daughter of Arlen "Henry" and Vivian June Aslakson. She grew up with an adventurous spirit that she never lost.
After graduating from Lanesboro High School, Candi pursued her passion for hair styling and graduated from cosmetology school in Winona. Her skills brought joy to countless clients in various salons over the years including Haute Salon in Jefferson City. She loved nothing more than chatting with her clients and being surrounded by people.
Candi’s upbeat attitude was infectious. Her adventurous spirit took her on a spontaneous trip to Cancun where she discovered a newfound love for swimming with dolphins. Candi was notorious for not planning her trips, she found that the best adventures were always the ones that were off the cuff. She relished an impromptu getaway. Her happy place was on a boat with the waves crashing and the wind whipping through her hair as they sped over the water.
Above all, Candi was a family woman, and nothing made her happier than her granddaughters. Her affinity for sparkles and her natural air of glamor earned her the title of "Glamma". Due to her loving and caring ways, her granddaughters always felt special and well taken care of.
Candi Sue Hagler was a social butterfly, a one-woman welcoming party to all, and certified bed hog. To have her in your life was like having a little piece of Heaven on Earth. She radiated love and had a way of making you feel happier just by being in her presence. Although we are deeply saddened by Candi’s passing, her spontaneous, positive, and vibrant spirit will live on through those who loved her.
Candi is survived by: her daughter, Hope Walter (Zack) of Sedalia, Mo.; stepson, Luke Walter of Racine, Wis.; mother, Vivian Aslakson; siblings, Gene Aslakson, LaDawn Greenslade, and Cindy Morgan; granddaughters, Calie and Skylar Sherman; and her beloved St. Bernard, Dox.
