Obituary for Carl Rehagen
Carl A. Rehagen, age 60 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020 at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital.
He was born on July 9, 1960, in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., the son of Wilfred Conrad and Janette Eleanor (Hoy) Rehagen. He was married on September 20, 1986 in Meta, Mo. to Cheryl Ann Sickendick, she survives at the home.
Growing up in a military family, Carl called many cities “home” growing up. He was a 1980 graduate of Vienna High School, and shortly after graduation, he decided to settle in Jefferson City in the early 80’s. the central Missouri area is where he and his wife raised their family and built a beautiful life together.
Carl worked for Johnson Controls for over 20 years then went on to work for the Missouri Department of Corrections until he retired as a CO1 following more than 20 years of dedicated service.
Carl was passionate about his lawn. He could often be found outside working to ensure his grass was always perfectly manicured and properly maintained. Carl was a grill master and enjoyed smoking, grilling and barbequing meats. He was a talented carpenter, always finding projects to keep him busy around the house and had a knack for home improvement. He had a great sense of humor and was a jokester, he always got a good laugh out of scaring his family and friends. Carl was a devoted husband and father. He was willing to do whatever he could to help someone out. He truly lived by the motto “Be good, do good” and knew how to slow down and enjoy life. He will be remembered for being a loyal man who remained dedicated to anything he felt was important in his life.
Survivors include: his wife of 33 years, Cheryl; his two children, Cynthia Ruppel of Jefferson City, Mo and Matthew Rehagen (wife, Abbie) of Diberville, Ms.; four siblings, Darlene Keeling (husband, David) of New Bloomfield, Mo., Sharon Heeter (husband, Ed) of California, Kathy Doll of Eldon, Mo. and Ginger Carter of Virginia; three grandchildren, Jacob, Jayden, and Jordyn; and one grandson due to arrive September 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Carl’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Jefferson City Animal Shelter.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
