Obituary for Carl Ronald Roach

Carl Ronald Roach, age, 89 of Jefferson City, was called home to be with his loved ones on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Jefferson City Manor.

He was born on October 19, 1932 in Naples, IL, the son of Marshall Edgar and Myrtle May (Gregory) Roach. He was married on June 14, 1952 in Rock Island, IL to Marilyn Colleen Brooks who preceded him in death on March 26, 1970. Carl later married Margaret Ann Pike on February 19, 1983 in Honolulu, HI who passed away April 17, 2018.

Carl was a graduate of Moline High School. He was drafted in to the United States Army on December 2nd 1952. He was an infantryman that served on the front line during the Korean Conflict. He earned numerous awards for his service including the Bronze Star.

Carl worked for McDonell Douglass in St. Louis for many years. He moved to Hawaii in January of 1976 because he had always wanted to live there. He worked as a Prudential Salesman there and then later got on with the Department of Defense. He retired from the Department of Defense while working at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas.

Carl was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Wright City, Mo., and was a member of the VFW.

One of Carl’s favorite pastimes was spending time with his family and friends. He played cards, especially Gin Rummy and Pinochle, and enjoyed playing Yahtzee with his grandkids. He also relished spending time outdoors, playing golf, and going to auto races. He loved going out to breakfast and enjoyed the times when Greg, Mitzi, Nicole, and Devon took him to breakfast while he and Margaret were living at Primrose. One summer Carl, Greg, Eddie, and Eddie's friend, Dan, took a family trip out west with a pop-up camper. They went to Wyoming, Colorado, and through the Dakotas. He enjoyed fishing and cherished the fishing trips that he took with his sons. While Carl and Margaret were living in West Plains Missouri, Margaret bought him a red Corvette because he had always wanted one. Carl (Ron to most of us) was deeply loved by those close to him and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Carl is preceded in death by: his parents; his loving wives, Marilyn and Margaret, and
stepdaughter Pamela Coomey.

Carl is survived by: his sister, Donna Mae Roach of Springfield, IL; sons, Ronald Edward Roach (wife, Debbie) of Aledo, IL, Gregory Roach (wife, Mitzi) of Jefferson City; stepdaughters, Patti Reed and Suzie Bailey of San Diego, CA; grandson Damian Roach (wife Ariel) of Davenport, IA; granddaughter, Nicole Bunting (husband, Devon) of Jefferson City; step-grandsons, Cris Reed and Erin Bailey of San Diego, CA; step-granddaughter Sara Bailey of San Diego, CA; great-grandsons, Xzavier and Zander Roach of Davenport, IA; and step-great-grandaughter Pamela Cook of San Diego, CA.
