Obituary for Carol Davis
Carol Irene (Veraguth) Davis, age 91, of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023, at The Timbers Assisted Living.
She was born on March 1, 1932, in St. Joseph, Mo. the daughter of John Wesley and Elsie Mae (Carrel) Veraguth. She was married on May 10, 1953, in St. Joseph, Mo. to Robert Franklin Davis who passed away on May 8, 2015.
Carol was a graduate of Savannah High School, in Savannah, Missouri.
She loved reading romance novels and watching sports especially Mizzou Tigers, Kansas City Chief’s, and St. Louis Cardinals. Carol’s favorite sport, however, was golf. She could be seen at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club where she was a member for more than 50 years. She relished being outside on the course swinging clubs and soaking up the sun.
Carol’s greatest accomplishment was her family. She was a strong and stern woman but cherished the opportunity to stay at home and care for her children. Carol was a dedicated wife as well, serving as his caretaker as his health declined. She adored the times she spent with her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Carol is survived by: her children; Deborah Miller of Jefferson City, Mo., Barbara Davis of Columbia, Mo., Bob Davis (Vonda) of Holts Summit, Mo.; siblings, Joyce Root, Mary Ann Pinkman, and Nola Heriford; grandchildren, Marc Miller (Kathleen), Andrew Miller, and Griffin Davis; and great-grandchildren, Gannon, Layla, Lauren and Lexi.
She is preceded in death by: her loving husband Robert; parents John and Elsie; son-in-law, RC Miller; brothers, John Wesley Veraguth Jr., Billy Veraguth, and Jewell Dale Veraguth; and sisters, Irma June Southern and Tessie Elaine Estes.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit, Mo. with the Reverend LP Cook officiating.
