Obituary for Carolyn Swindall

Carolyn A. Swindall, age 75, of Jefferson City, Mo., went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, March 26, 2021 at home surrounded by family.

Carolyn was born July 30, 1945 in Charleston, South Carolina, the daughter of Eugene and Clara (Drake) Hoff. She was married on June 1, 1985 to Edwin Thomas Swindall, who preceded her in death on February 8, 2009.

Carolyn lived in South Carolina, Jacksonville, Florida, Alabama and moved to Jefferson City in 2001. During those years, she was a home healthcare personal aide and spent her life being devoted to the care of others. This came easily to Carolyn because she truly loved taking care of her patients while showing love and concern to anyone that she came into contact with during her career. Unfortunately, ill health forced her retirement a few years ago but she never stopped caring for friends or neighbors.

Carolyn possessed a strong faith and was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church near Columbia, Mo.

She had a creative spirit and poured that energy into making crafts for friends. Carolyn loved filling her home with flowers and cooking for others. In her free time, she was an avid quilter and seamstress and enjoyed taking pictures of every occasion.

Carolyn enjoyed visiting family in other states and knew the true value of time spent together. She always looked forward to holiday gatherings, birthday parties and loved the time she got to spend with grandchildren at the local swimming pool or an afternoon picnic. She had a passion for life and always enjoyed every moment. For those who knew her well, she will be remembered for her caring, giving, accepting, inclusive nature and dedicated to her family and friends.

Survivors include: her children, Joe Midyette, Terri Hester, Richard Midyette, Larry Midyette, John Hubbard and Suzanne Absheer (husband Michael); one brother, Ivy Hoff (wife Sandy) of Holts Summit, Mo.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her Missouri grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 23 years, Edwin; and one brother, David Hoff.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Peace Lutheran Church, 7808 New Church Road, Jefferson City, Mo. 65101 with her funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Micah A. Ernst officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Summit Memorial Park in Holts Summit, Mo.

A webcast of the service will begin at 11:00 am Thursday for friends that are not able to attend by watching from Peace Lutheran Church’s Facebook page or going to the "photos and videos" tab of this page and scrolling down to the webcasting link.

Flowers always brightened Carolyn’s day so please feel free to send a flower tribute in honor of her to the service.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary.
