Obituary for Chad M. Steele

Print
Chad Michael Steele, age 54, of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away November 17, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family and his fury friend, Jegs.

He was born on July 24, 1964 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of Eldon W. and Edna M. (Ronk) Steele. In 2004, Chad met his soul mate Kathie Withers and they have been inseparable ever since.

Chad grew up in South Dakota and graduated from O’Gorman High School in Sioux Falls in 1982. He went on to earn a Broadcasting and Journalism degree from Phoenix University.

Chad's passion for music led him to be a part of the 94.3 KAT Country family since the station launched in 1995. He worked as a radio disc jockey and was heard daily on KAT Country, known as “Jay Walker”. Through his work at the station, he participated in “Bras for a Cause” and was active with the Children’s Miracle Network. He absolutely loved sharing music with others and being a part of the community in such a special way.

He enjoyed playing golf, camping, woodworking, going on family vacations and watching the races. Chad was the biggest Minnesota Vikings fan and never missed watching a game. His grandchildren were his pride and joy – Chad loved attending their sporting events and reading to Kinley. Some of his fondest memories were of holiday celebrations and family dinners.

Survivors include: his fiancé, Kathie Withers of Holts Summit, Mo.; his son, Nathan Kitchen of Salem, Mo.; his stepdaughters, Amber Jenkins of New Bloomfield, Mo. and Ashley Lentz (Marc) of Wardsville, Mo.; his siblings, Rod Steele (Dona) of South Dakota, Greg Steele (Joan) of Ohio, Steve Steele (Mary) of South Carolina, Jeff Steele (Judy) of South Dakota, Dennis Steele (Mary Ann) of Minnesota, Cam Loveland (Tom) of South Dakota and Brian Steele of South Dakota; five grandchildren, Easton Ambler, Riley Lentz, Gage Cliburn, Cruz Stegemann and Kinley Lentz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Chad was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Monica Larsen.
