Obituary for Christina Marie Saunders

Mrs. Christina Marie Saunders, age 31, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at her home.

Christina was born on March 24, 1989 in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Jason R. Smith. She was married on October 12, 2013 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Mark A. Saunders who survives at the home.

A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Christina was a 2007 graduate of Helias Catholic High School. After graduation, Christina attended Avila University, and graduated with her BSN Nursing degree in 2012.

Christina was a natural born nurse. She worked many RN jobs, most recently with Boone Hospital Center.

Christina enjoyed traveling and made several different trips. She went to Rome with her choir family, Dauphin Island with her grandma, and Hawaii with her husband. The mission trips with her sister, Cassy, after Hurricane Katrina was important to Christina’s caring nature. Christina was very adventurous and always on the go. She always said, “half of the adventure is getting to where you are going.” Christina was very artistic and used a variety of mediums. Some of her favorite memories would be playing board and card games as a family, making sure she was teasing grandma, and sharing motherhood with her sister.

Christina will be most remembered for her kind and compassionate heart, always going above and beyond to check on others, especially her sister, and how amazing of a mommy she was to Juno.

Survivors include: her loving husband, Mark and daughter, Juno; father, Jason Smith; sister, Cassy Holzer (Isaac); brothers-in-law, Steven Saunders (Stephanie) and James Saunders (Ashten); sister-in-law, Sarah Saunders; grandmother, Sharon “Meem” Smith, aunt, Jennifer Winkelman (Robert); uncle: Ernie Smith (Christina); and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
