Corey Taylor Love, age 25, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023.
Corey was born August 5, 1997, in Jefferson City, Mo. a son of Jerry Keith Love and Carla Sue Schulte.
He was married on May 30, 2021, in Jefferson City, Mo. to Katelyn Joy Engelbrecht, whom he had known since high school.
Corey had a deep-seated passion for sports and the great outdoors since he was a child. He excelled in basketball and baseball while in high school and formed strong, lasting relationships with his teammates. Corey relished spending time in nature, whether it was hunting, fishing, or enjoying a leisurely float with his family on the Osage River.
Corey was a 2016 graduate of Cole County R-V High School in Eugene, Mo. He later attended Ozark Technical School and eventually graduated in 2020, from Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. His major was Logistics, with a minor in Criminology.
For the past two years, Corey has worked as a project manager at Quaker Windows. During his summer months in school, he enjoyed working at “The Getaway,” a boat and jet ski rental dock located at Lake of the Ozarks.
Corey's passion for sports continued even after high school. He became a coach for a youth baseball team called "Show Me Attack" and loved playing golf with his older brother, Ryan and close friends, who he referred to as "The Boys”. He and Ryan have maintained a deep bond and respect throughout their lives, cherishing daily conversations about sports, family, and their upcoming golf matches. Corey was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed watching games with his family. He also had a love of all genres of music and spent time trying to learn new songs on the guitar with his friends.
He was always trying to grow in his faith. Corey grew up attending Immanuel Lutheran Church in Honey Creek, where he was baptized and confirmed. He and Katelyn became members at Capital City Christian Church the past few years and were active with several of their programs. Seeking to deepen his knowledge of scripture, Corey also attended "Next Step Young Adults," a Bible study class at Freshwater Church in Jefferson City with friends.
Corey and Katelyn recognized their blessings and felt called to give back. They decided to adopt a little girl from the Philippines named Charlotte through Children International and regularly sent letters, notes, and financial support to help her.
Corey loved his family deeply, and they will remember his sense of humor, loyalty, and selflessness.
Corey is survived by: his loving wife, Katelyn Love; mother, Carla Lowry (Scot) of Jefferson City, Mo.; father, Jerry Love of Mary’s Home, Mo.; siblings, Ryan Love (Ashley) and their daughter, Charlotte, who is expected in coming months, Aubree Lowry, Braelynn Lowry, Jordyn Gillam (Nik) and their son Emmett, and Lanie Lowry; brother-in-law, Christian Engelbrecht; grandfather, Dennis Schulte; grandmother, Agnes Love; parents-in-law, Craig and Kelli Engelbrecht; grandparents-in-law, Frances Engelbrecht, Mary Alice and Jim Schulte; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his beloved beagles and cats, Johnny, June, Debra and Jael.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Betty Schulte; paternal grandfather, Melvin Pete Love; brother, Logan Lowry; and grandfather-in-law, Curtis Engelbrecht.
Visitation will be held at Capital City Christian Church from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2023,
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Capital City Christian Church with the Reverend Frank Goehringer officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Honey Creek, Mo.
A webcast of Corey’s service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023, for friends that are not able to attend by going to the website of
Capital City Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Corey Love Memorial Fund, which will be utilized to provide ongoing support for their adopted daughter, Charlotte, and to potentially facilitate the adoption of additional children through Children International.
