Obituary for Darrell Jones

Darrell Lee Jones, age 58, of Eldon, Mo., formerly of Russellville, Mo., passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 4, 2023, at his home in Eldon.

He was born on June 6, 1964, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Donald E. and Amy G. (Scrivner) Jones.

A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Darrell was a 1982 graduate of Russellville High School, where he was involved in track and field. Following his education, he embarked on a career journey in iron and sheet metal work and was currently employed with Enloe Aluminum as a certified welder. His perfectionism made him a sought-after individual in his trade.

Darrell was a unique and artistic free-spirited man. He didn’t just use his expertise in welding for work, he made many beautiful and thought-provoking metal sculptures and was proud to have one selected to be included in the 2007 art exhibit at the Missouri State Fair. He was also honored to have been asked to do an installation for a ceramics exhibit at the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art in Sedalia, Mo. He was a talented musician and enjoyed playing guitar and harmonica. His creativity extended into painting and writing as well, and he had written a collection of short stories. Darrell was a deep and critical thinker, which gave him a rare perspective of the world. His friendly demeanor will be missed by many.

He was a member of the Iron Workers and Sheet Metal Workers unions, and as a man of faith, a longtime member of Russellville Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his mother, Amy Jones; siblings, Debbie Heinrich (Daniel), Peggy Heinrich (Donald), Pam Schroeder (Chris), and Kenneth Jones, all of Jefferson City, Mo., Diane Stone (Roy) of Jacksonville, Fla., Dennis Jones of Eldon, Mo., and Doug Jones (Char) of Windsor, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and his father, Donald E. Jones.

Darrell was laid to rest at Enloe Cemetery in Russellville, Mo., following a private family ceremony.
