Obituary for Deborah Ann Vernon
Deborah Ann Vernon, 67, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.
She was born on July 16, 1954 in Hillsborough, Fl. to Johnny Welch and Ruth (Rothove) Rutledge.
Debbie lived in Jefferson City for 60 years and was a 1972 graduate of Jefferson City High School. She worked for the Division of Motor Vehicles until her retirement in 2019.
She enjoyed spending time with her family especially when her siblings came in from out of state. Most of all, Debbie loved raising her boys and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include: her son, Fred G. Vernon of Jefferson City, her mother, Ruth Rutledge of Jefferson City, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Belynda Jackson of Jefferson City; five siblings, Joe Welch of Brighton, Mi., Vance Welch of Tx., Saunsira Maupins (Robert) of Blue Springs, Linda Hiatte of Jefferson City, and Dottie Kerr of Jefferson City; six grandchildren, Miranda Anderson, Bethany Jackson, Macy Jackson, Michelle Jackson, Michael Jackson, and Morgan Jackson; and great-grandchild, Bellamy Baldwin.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Jackson; her father, Johnny Welch; sister, Susan Potts; brothers-in-law, Donald Potts and Kenny Kerr; and sister-in-law, Carol Welch.
Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday, January 29, 2022. A celebration of life will follow at 2:00 pm in the Freeman Chapel.
A webcast of the service will begin at 2:00 PM Saturday for friends and family that are not able to attend by going to her memorial page on Freeman Mortuary’s website.
