Delores was born on November 11, 1938 in Jefferson City, Mo. a daughter of Carl “Buck” and Sophia E. (Kuper) Walz. Her father was the Cole County Sheriff so she was born in the County Jail, since they were living there at the time of her birth.

A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Delores was employed with the Missouri Department of Revenue for 24 years until her retirement.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and was a supporter of the Jefferson City Jays Football Program. She grew up watching her brother, Pete, play for the Jays and has fond memories of those times. She continued to attend Jay football games throughout her life.

Delores enjoyed antiquing in her free time and was always searching for garage sales to locate the next good find. She would then resell the items many times. She and Lyndal enjoyed the antique shop in Boonville and would end the day at the casino. She also enjoyed time with family, especially swimming and canoeing with her kids and grandchildren at the neighborhood lake.

Survivors include: her loving husband, Lyndal Shirley; five children, Lyndal Shirley, Jr. (Trish) of Goodyear, Arizona, Tambra Kruse (Mike) of Jefferson City, Mo., Shawna Iwanenko (Walter) of Fort Myers, Florida, Leslie O’Rourke of Jefferson City, Mo. and Brent Shirley of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Wanda Alberts of Jefferson City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Alicia Dixon (Craig), Sarah Cain (Andy), Michael Kruse (Melissa), Ashley O’Rourke (Lindsey) and Kelsey Howard (Jordan); eight great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Nathan Dixon, Phoebe and Felix Cain, Cassius, Greylin and Oliver Kruse, and Caden O’Rourke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
