Obituary for Donald Butzlaff

Donald Franklin Butzlaff, age 78 years, of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 27, 2022.

Don was born to Darrell and Margaret Butzlaff on December 10, 1943 in Charles City, Iowa. He grew up in a small farming community in north central Iowa, in the town of Greene, Iowa. Don had 4 brothers: Roger, Robert (Bob), John and Ronnie.

After graduating from Greene High School in 1962, Don enlisted in the Marine Corps along with his good friend Dallas Steere. After completing his enlisted service in the Marine Corps, Don returned to Greene, IA and married Pency Scott. Don and Penny had two sons: Todd and Ronnie.

Don moved his family to Brookfield, MO in the early 1970s to begin a lifelong career in veterinary pharmaceutical sales. He retired in 2008 and remained in Missouri as a long-time resident, spending the past few years in the Lake Ozark area.

He loved spending time with friends and family as well as playing tennis with his longtime tennis buddies Greg, Walt, Roger, Charlie and Terry. He also enjoyed playing golf with his buddy Roger; as well as horseback/trail riding, boating, hunting, fishing and just life in general!

Don is survived by his two sons, Todd Butzlaff (and wife Jennifer) of Des Peres, MO. and Ronnie Butzlaff of Lake Ozark, MO.; his four grandchildren, Margaret Butzlaff, Claire Butzlaff, Anna Blasberg and Paige Blasberg; and his brother, Robert Butzlaff (and wife Leanne ) of Indio, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father, Darrell; and mother, Margaret; brothers, Ronnie, Roger and John Butzlaff.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Freeman Mortuary, Jefferson City, Mo. from 1:00 to 3:00 PM with a brief celebration of Don’s life at 3:00 PM to conclude the visitation. Private funeral services and internment will be held later this spring in Greene, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an organization of your choice in honor of Don. The family of Don Butzlaff acknowledges your kindness and expressions of sympathy offered to us during this time of our loss.
