Obituary for Donna K. Watson

Mrs. Donna K. Watson, age 61 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 10, 1957 in Jefferson City, Mo. the daughter of Jerome J. and Marcella J. Boehm Bax. She was married on January 26, 1979 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Bobby G. Gibson who preceded her in death on October 9, 1991. On October 14, 1994 in Jefferson City, Mo., she married James G. Watson.

A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Donna was a 1975 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia, Mo.

Donna was employed as an Executive Secretary with the Missouri State Highway Patrol from 1975 until 1993 and as a Licensing Manager with the Missouri Gaming Commission from 1993 until her retirement in 2006.

She enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Sacred Heart Quilting Club. Her other interests included traveling to Tunica and Las Vegas, pool days with family and friends, girls weekend trips, and Ma Ma’s Day Camps. Most importantly, she cherished her time with family and friends and spoiling her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include: her husband of twenty-four years, James Watson; six children, Allison Bornhauser and her husband Sam of Columbia, Mo., Tim Gibson and his wife Cheri of Holts Summit, Mo., Tonya Gibson and her wife Andrea of Lakeland, Florida, Lori Wyrick and her husband Rick of Blue Springs, Mo., J. Scott Watson of Topeka, Kansas, and Shad Watson and his wife Yuan of London, England; her mother, Marcella Bax of Rich Fountain, Mo. four siblings, Dennis Bax and his wife Rhonda of Freeburg, Mo., Darrell Bax and his wife Lori of Freeburg, Mo., Debbie Bax Boyce and her husband Opie of Jefferson City, Mo., and Dean Bax of Rich Fountain, Mo.; eleven grandchildren, Trey, T.J., and Katy Bornhauser, Jessica Rogers, Bobby Gibson, Brody and Andrew Wyrick, Jordan and Katelyn Watson, Serena and Kel Watson; and two great grandchildren, Lochlyn and Layne Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her first husband and her father.

Visitation will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain, Mo. from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Thursday, March 14, 2019 and from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Friday, March 15, 2019.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, March 15, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Reverend William Debo officiating. Private entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Sacred Heart Quilting Club.
