Dorothy May Harris, age 89 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 at Villa Marie in Jefferson City, Mo.

She was born on May 24, 1929 in Jefferson City, Mo. the daughter of Frank and Agnes (Mertens) Bellman. She was married in June of 1947 to Marvin J. Harris, who preceded her in death on January 29, 2012.

A lifelong resident of Jefferson City, Dorothy was a graduate of St. Peter High School.

Throughout the years, Dorothy worked at Tweedie Shoe Factory, Von Hoffmann Press, and the United States Post Office. She was proud to be a dedicated homemaker and cherished time caring for her family.

As a young girl she was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and has attended St. Peter Catholic Church throughout her life.

Dorothy enjoyed tending to her flowers and plants in her garden. She loved traveling with her husband throughout the United States and took several memorable international trips with her daughter, Karen. During her free time, she enjoyed eating out, walking in parks, listening to music, reading, going to fall festivals, rummage sales and antiquing.

Survivors include: two daughters, Donna Kendall of Jefferson City, Mo. and Karen Harris of Jefferson City, Mo.; her son, Darrell Harris and his wife Lisa of Jefferson City, Mo.; and her grandson, John Kendall, Jr. of Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one son, Robert J. Harris in 1969 during the Vietnam War.

A private family service was held at Riverview Cemetery that honored Dorothy.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
