Obituary for Dorothy Henderson
Dorothy Henderson, age 84, of New Bloomfield, Mo. and Moncks Corner, Sc. went to be with the Lord and reunited with loved ones on August 7, 2022. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at Villa Marie Memory Care in Jefferson City, Mo.
Dorothy was a full-time house wife and loving mother. After losing her husband in 1995, she took a job with Miss Edies Day Care in Moncks Corner, where she enjoyed spending time with the children.
Dorothy was very devoted to her family and was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was often referred to as “Sassy or Spunky” by those closest to her.
A resident of central Missouri since 2015, Dorothy was a member of New Beginnings Church in Auxvasse, Mo.
She leaves behind: two daughters, Jacquelyn “Verida” Ellwood (Rodney) of Moncks Corner, SC and Beverly Thompson (Rick) of New Bloomfield, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Laura Henderson of SC; twelve grandchildren, Lacey Lund (Andy), Megan Lukacs, Ryder Henderson, and Colt Henderson (Marcie) all of South Carolina, Scotty Brown (Danielle) of Florida, Andy Ellwood of Michigan, Dustin Rimes (Jodi), Kyle Rimes (Anna), Rachel Keller (Steven), Brittney Medlin (Jess) and Sarah Rotter (Glen) all of Missouri; and twelve great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Barrett and Dalton Lund, Conner Brown, Gage and Gunner Henderson, Brooklynn, Auden Anderson and Brantley Pitts, and Jess, Charley and McKenzie Medlin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 40 years, Gene Henderson; son, Robert Henderson; daughter, Kim Rimes; and two grandsons, Daniel Lukacs and Lil Tommy Lukacs.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held at Lions Park in Rolla, Mo. at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022.
Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Berkeley Memorial Gardens in Moncks Corner, SC with the Reverend Chris Peagler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary.
