Eleanoire A. Burkhead, age 76, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Capital Region Medical Center due to complications from COVID.
Eleanoire was born on January 5, 1945 in Boonville, Mo. a daughter of Dr. E.T. and Annie L. (Schlotzhauer) Humphreys. She was married on August 28, 1965 in Boonville, Mo. to Frank W. Burkhead, Jr., who preceded her in death on September 27, 1996.
Eleanoire was a 1963 graduate of Boonville High School and attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo.
She was employed as an administrative assistant with the Missouri Police Chiefs Association for over 20 years until her retirement in 2001. Eleanoire had a creative side and began her own photography studio that she operated for many years. She enjoyed capturing life memories at weddings and other special events.
While her children were younger, she was a homemaker and put all her energy into supporting her kids and Frank. Eleanoire was always lifting them up or supporting them through their daily activities. In recent years that love has been shown to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she cherished any time with them, especially dinner outings at restaurants and taking them to the movie theater.
Eleanoire possessed a strong faith and was a longtime member of Memorial Baptist Church. She was a member of the Golden Circle Sunday school class, where she made many great friends.
In her free time, she enjoyed studying genealogy and was an avid reader. Eleanoire loved plants and planting flowers. She looked forward to trips anywhere in the United States with family. Eleanoire will be remembered for her caring heart, creative spirit, strong faith and independent nature.
Survivor’s include: three children, Tara Hoskins (Troy), Tamara Garber (Robert) and Frank E. Burkhead (Carol), all of Jefferson City, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Adam Hoskins (Andrea), Zachary Hoskins (Lauren), Tiffani Garber, Savannah Garber, Graham Garber (Alessandra), Trenton Garber, Taylor Burkhead and Alexander Burkhead; two great-grandchildren, Lily and Flynn Hoskins; four siblings, Janie Reintjes (Woody) of Olathe, Ks., Ed Humphreys (Celia) of Independence, Mo., Pat Humphreys of Columbia, Mo., and Beth Nesbitt (Dave) of Wichita, Ks.; one sister-in-law, Shirley Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 31 years, Frank.
Due to the pandemic, a private family service will be held Friday, February 12, 2021 in the Freeman Chapel with Mr. Rick Yoder officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
