Obituary for Eulala Miller

Mrs. Eulala M. Miller, age 87 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the University Hospital in Columbia, Mo.

Eulala was born August 25, 1931 in Griffithville, Arkansas the daughter of James and Clarence Wilta (Stephens) Hamner. Her stepfather, Tom Scott, also helped raise Eulala and played a large role in her life. She was married on December 19, 1949 in Searcy, Arkansas to Marion B. “Junior” Miller who preceded her in death on December 14, 2013.

A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Eulala was a 1949 graduate of Jefferson City High School.

Eulala and Junior operated Tennyson’s Furniture Store since 1974 and became second generation to own the business in 2001. She helped with the store all through the years until just recently when ill health forced her to slow down in 2017.

Eulala’s life revolved around her family and she saw her most important role as being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She supported Junior in all his efforts with the furniture store and never missed an event for her children. Her favorite memories were family gatherings and she especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren later in her life.

She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed the fellowship with other members.

Survivors include: three children, Karen Miller Michelson and her husband Mike of Jefferson City, Mo., Brett Miller and his wife Mary of Jefferson City, Mo., and Dan Miller and his wife Julie of Jefferson City, Mo.; six grandchildren, Melanie (Brandon) Barlow, Matthew (Melissa) Michelson, Jonas Miller, Harrison Miller, Lisa Miller, and Elizabeth Miller; and five great-grandchildren, Madeline Barlow, Bennett Barlow, Ryan Sullens, Destiny Sullens, and Lauren Sullens.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of almost 64 years, Junior.

Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2018.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2018 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Daniel Hilty officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, 201 Monroe Street, Jefferson City, Mo. 65101.
