Obituary for Fred Schubert

Mr. Fred William Schubert, age 78, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021, as a result of a pulmonary embolism at the University of Missouri Hospital.

Fred was born on the family farm, October 31, 1942, in Honey Creek, Mo., the son of Oscar and Frieda (Ott) Schubert. He was married on October 16, 1966, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City to Martha Susan “Marty” Woods who survives at the home.

A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Fred was a 1960 graduate of Eugene High School.

Fred worked as an Assembly Line Worker at ABB, where he retired in 2007.

Fred was a man of faith and a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Fred loved spending time outdoors enjoying God’s creation. He grew up farming and working cattle and later in life, took pride in doing yard work and maintaining his vegetable garden. Fred often shared his homegrown produce with his family, friends and neighbors.

Fred will be remembered for his helpful and giving heart. He will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Marty; one daughter, Susan Maupin (husband, Mike) of Wildwood, Mo; two sisters, Betty Jungmeyer (husband, Leland) of Jefferson City, Mo., and Judy Todd (husband, Jerry) of Lohman, Mo; one brother, Terry Schubert (wife, Teresa); and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Emily Maupin.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents.

Private funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 25, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Sam Powell officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

A webcast of the funeral service will begin at 9:45 a.m. January 25, 2021, for friends who are not able to attend by going to his memorial page on Freeman Mortuary’s website. Friends may mail sympathy cards to the funeral home or leave condolences online to be given to his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Calvary Lutheran High School or Goldschmidt Cancer Center.
