Obituary for Grace Ann Harvey (Kliethermes)

Mrs. Grace Ann Harvey, age 76, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at her home.

Grace, lovingly known as Gracie by many, was born on June 18, 1944 in Hillsboro, Mo., the daughter of Raymond Joseph and Mathilda Frances (Holzer) Kliethermes. She was married on September 7, 1997 to James Edward Harvey who survives at the home.

A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Grace was a 1962 graduate of Jefferson City High School.

Grace worked for Missouri Rural Services as Claims Manager for 35 years until her retirement in March 2021. During her working career, Grace also worked as a senator’s aid for the State of Missouri and also worked part time at Ecco Lounge.

Grace loved to travel to the Western United States, especially Wyoming. She also enjoyed watching old western tv shows and movies and kept her mind sharp through her love of reading. Grace was an animal lover, but had a special connection with her three fur babies, Pepi, Rocko, and Amy. She believed everyone should have a dog. Grace had a remarkable memory and never forgot special dates or anyone’s name. Most of all, Grace cherished the time that she spent with her family. She will be most remembered for her caring and generous heart and her sweet but feisty personality. Grace will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include: her loving husband of 23 years, James Harvey; two step-sons, James Harvey (wife, Emily) of St. Louis, Mo. and Jonathon Harvey (wife, Wan) of St. Charles, Mo; two sisters, Erma Moskalski of Toas, Mo. and Carol Sisson (husband, Mike) of Jefferson City, Mo; two brothers, David Kliethermes of Jefferson City, Mo. and Daniel Kliethermes (wife, Rita) of New Bloomfield, Mo; four step-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Henry, Ethan, and Sophie; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog Amy.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Audrey Dietzel, Teresa Ferguson, and Pauline Gentges; her infant sister, Mary Ann; her nephew, Matt Ferguson; and two of her cherished dogs, Pepi and Rocko.

Private services for the family will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Central Missouri Humane Society, 616 Big Bear Boulevard, Columbia, Missouri 65202.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
