Obituary for Gregory A. Medlock

Mr. Gregory Alan Medlock, age 52 years, of Vienna, Mo., passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 due to injuries sustained in an accident.

He was born on August 18, 1968 in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of James “J.B” and Virginia (Boyce) Medlock. As a young boy, Greg accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized at Concord Baptist Church.

A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Greg graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1986.

Greg was known as a handyman and could always be found doing odd jobs or working in construction. He will always be known for his big heart, free spirit and stubborn demeanor. He was willing to do anything he could for others.

Greg had a love for the outdoors, whether he was fishing, hunting, canoeing, or camping with family, he was at home in nature. His favorite place was being with friends and family on the Osage River where he would grill enough food to feed anyone. He was an avid sports fan, especially loved rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals. Greg also had a love for animals and rescued many dogs and cats.

He was cherished by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

Survivors include: four daughters, Heather Arnold (Josh) of Hendersonville, Tn., Chelsea Pendleton (Brett) of St. Elizabeth, Mo., Jessica Fick (Art) of Rich Fountain, Mo. and Haley Medlock of Jefferson City, Mo.; his mother, Virginia Medlock of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, Bryan Medlock (Sara) of Bloomington, Il.; five grandchildren, Hank Arnold, Delilah Patterson, Bennett Pendleton, Audrey Fick and Olivia Pendleton; two nieces, Erin Medlock and Aidan Medlock; one nephew, Garrett Medlock; and his beloved dog “Chico”.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.B. Medlock, in 2016.

Visitation will be held at the Pavilion at Ellis-Porter Riverside Park from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2020. The general public is welcome to attend the visitation while following social distancing guidelines. Masks are optional and will be provided, if needed. Greg was an avid Chiefs fan so friends are welcome to wear their Chiefs attire.

A private celebration of Greg’s life will be held after his visitation at the Pavilion at Ellis-Porter Riverside Park with the Reverend Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating. Private graveside service and interment will be held at the Shirley Cemetery in Osage County, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Greg Medlock Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 95, Jefferson City, Mo. 65102.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary.
