Obituary for Hartley C. Huff

Hartley Charles Huff, age 75, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the Capital Region Medical Center.

Hartley was born on December 21, 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Charles L. Huff and Fanita Marie (Davis) Huff McCubbin.

A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Hartley graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1964, where he stayed in contact with many of his classmates throughout the years. He went on to earn both a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and a Master’s of Education from Lincoln University.

Hartley was employed with the Independent Living Resource Center where he was an Access Specialist.

Hartley will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his quick wit. He was both a rhymester and very good with puns, being quick to insert one in almost any conversation.

Survivors include; his cousins, Patricia Preble of Hendersonville, NC, Gary D. Roberts (Rynee) of Westminster, CO, and Susan Hasty Mayhan (Ed) of Quenemo, KS; dear friends, Sharon Johnson (Wayne), Susan Temple Wayne, Jeanne Tucker Gordon; and other extended family.

Hartley was preceded in death by his parents; a good friend, Pete Oetting; and his beloved dog, Elizabeth.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Graveside services and interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Marie Huff McCubbin Scholarship Fund through Central Missouri State University – Warrensburg.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary.
