Obituary for Helen Hirsch
Helen Beatrice Hirsch, 85, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Monday, May 1, 2023 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.
She was born February 28, 1938, the youngest child of Benard F. and Alma E. Oligschlaeger.
Helen graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in 1956 and was united in marriage to Donald L. Hirsch on July 15, 1961 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth.
Helen retired in 2000 as the Deputy Clerk of the Cole County Circuit Court after 20 years. Following retirement, Helen was a volunteer for the St. Mary’s Foundation where she gave over 5,000 hours of service.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and was a founding member of the “Our Lady of Snows” Chapter of the Immaculata Club which formed in 1964.
Helen had four precious grandchildren that she adored. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.
Survivors include her three sons, Paul D., Larry B., and Gerald L. (Angela), all of Jefferson City, her grandchildren, Holden, Connor, Stephen, and Anna, and her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and her daughter, Carole Ann.
Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Reverend Tony Onyeihe officiating. Graveside services and entombment will follow at the Mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, gifts of remembrance may be made to the Immaculate Conception Endowment Fund, the St. Mary’s Foundation, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary, 915 Madison St, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
