Mr. Howard Lee Christy, age 90, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Capital Region Medical Center.
Howard was born on August 21, 1931 in Laclede, Mo. the son of Joe and Irene (Lay) Christy.
Howard was a graduate of Laclede High School. After graduation, he briefly worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. In 1952, Howard served in the United States Navy during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged in 1955.
After his service to our country, Howard began his professional career in food sales that spanned many decades. For several years he worked for Star Coffee Company, Manhattan Coffee Company, and then Craig Food Sales. In 1986, Howard began his long tenure with Graves Menu Maker Company and he continued with the Graves family for over 35 years. Howard possessed a strong work ethic and found enjoyment in his profession, which is why he never retired. He had an outgoing personality and took a genuine interest in people. He cherished the relationships he had with clients, co-workers and the Graves family.
Howard was a proud member of the Brookfield Missouri Masonic Lodge No. 86 AF & AM.
Most of all, Howard loved his family and enjoyed all of the time and memories that he made with them. He had fond memories of fishing trips with family and friends. In his free time, he enjoyed watching sports and cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include: three children, Brad Christy of Jefferson City, Mo., Mike Christy (wife, Debbie) of Troy, Mo. and Bruce Christy of Osage Beach, Mo.; five grandchildren, Brandy Hutzler (husband, Lance), Brooke Christy, Olivia Rhea (husband, Daniel), Sam Christy and Sarah Christy; and three great-grandchildren, Brantley Hutzler, Ainsley Rhea and Canaan Rhea.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Phyllis Lueckenhoff.
A private Celebration of Life will be held for the family at a later date.
