Obituary for James William Gordon

James William Gordon, age 62, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at Landmark Critical Care Hospital in Columbia, Mo., surrounded by his family.

He was born on September 12, 1956 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Teresa Tellman Gordon. He married his wife, Stana Nichols who survives at the home, on September 4, 2004 at their favorite place to visit, Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Jim attended Fatima High School. He went on to own and operate his own business, X-Pert Auto, serving the local community for 18 years and being a mechanic for the mid-Missouri area for over 40 years. Jim was forced to early retirement in the fall of 2018 due to illness.

Jim’s passion was being a mechanic; always repairing and maintaining vehicles for his customers. When not working on other’s cars, he could be found searching for the next hotrod project or historic car restoration. Another hobby was driving around the countryside antiquing to haggle, buy and restore the items he found with his wife, Stana. He also made sure his yard looked like a golf course, trimmed and free of leaves and sticks no matter what. There was always a project Jim had going, always something to keep busy.

He was a man who stayed true to his word, meaning what he said and believed that a deal could still be made with a firm handshake.

Survivors include his wife, Stana Gordon of Jefferson City, Mo.; his children, Curtis Goben and his fiancée, Kayla Linnenbrink of Jefferson City, Mo. and Jennifer Noblett and her husband, Colby of Wardsville, Mo.; one sister, Anne Berhorst and her husband, Ralph of Freeburg, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Haydn Shelton, Sophia Shelton and Maddy Noblett.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother; two brothers, Terry Andert and Bobby Gordon; and one sister, Stephanie Gordon.

A public visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 in the Freeman Chapel. Entombment will be in the Columbarium of Riverview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society.
