Obituary for James Kenneth Grazier

James Kenneth Grazier, age 82, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at St. Josephs Bluffs.

Jim was born July 8, 1938 in Tipton, Mo., the son of the late Sherman and Louise (Coventry) Grazier. He was married on October 6, 1962, at the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson City, Mo. to Linda Lee Schneider, who preceded him in death on February 3, 2018.

Jim was a longtime resident of Jefferson City, graduating from Jefferson City Public Schools in 1956. He then attended Jefferson City Junior College, Lincoln University and the University of Missouri; with undergraduate studies in business administration and post graduate studies in public administration.

Jim was employed in the field of data processing for over 30 years. He began as the Director of Data Processing for the City of Columbia and retired in 1995 as the Director of Data Processing for Missouri Department of Labor through Employment Security. During his career he worked as a tabulating operator, programmer, systems analyst, supervisor and manager.

Following his retirement, Jim continued to work in the automation field at State Farm Insurance Company in Columbia. He also volunteered as an IT technician a few hours each week and as a personal income tax preparer.

He was a longtime member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Jefferson Lodge #43 A.F. & A.M. Jim enjoyed the company of friends at various morning coffees when he could, including the Wears Creek Yacht Club.

Survivors include: two daughters, Sara Medlock (Bryan) of Bloomington, Illinois and Julie Rehagen (Robert) of Holts Summit, Mo.; a brother, Jerry Grazier of Franklinville, North Carolina; a sister, Sharon Rimel of Lincoln, Mo.; five grandchildren, Megan Stephenson (Carter) of Jefferson City, Mo., Aerin Medlock of Olympia, Washington, Edward Rehagen (Nicole) of Holts Summit, Mo., Garrett Medlock of Salt Lake City, Utah and Aidan Medlock of Bloomington, Il.; and three great-grandchildren, Mason Weber, Eleanor Weber and Vivienne Weber.

Jim was incredibly proud of his family and always supportive of his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed their successes and adventures, and loved being a part of them.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Linda Grazier; two sisters, Betty Wright and Donna Roush; and a brother, George Grazier.

Visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2021 with a Masonic Service conducted at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday under the auspices of the Jefferson Lodge #43, A.F. & A.M.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Angela Madden and the Reverend Dr. David Henry officiating. Private graveside services and interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery.

A webcast of the funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday for friends that are not able to attend by going to the "photos and videos" tab of his page and scrolling down to the webcasting link.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, 324 Madison Street, Jefferson City, Mo. 65101.
