Obituary for Jason Schuemann

Jason Daniel Schuemann, age 45, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

He was born on January 22, 1978, in Jefferson City, to Daniel Harry and Karen Marie (Grothoff) Schuemann. He met the love of his life, Shana Elaine Smith, while they were in school. They were united in marriage on May 6, 2000, in Jefferson City and to this union three children were born.

Jason was a 1996 graduate of Jefferson City High School. Following his education, he began working for Ross Allen Flooring until 2004 when he accepted a position with Handyman Solutions. In 2015, Jason began working for the State of Missouri and was currently employed as a Maintenance Supervisor.

Jason was an active and daring child. Riding around the neighborhood on his beloved BMX bike and taking such extreme jumps he broke it in half. He was always full of energy and his bubbly personality earned him many friends in childhood. As he aged, his outdoor interest shifted to activities like hunting, fishing, and playing corn hole. He was always athletic, and his competitive edge was displayed in playing sports with his sons. A supportive and ever-present dad, Jason relished watching his boys play sports and loved to be there to cheer them on. He even tried his hand at coaching when his sons were young. Jason had a creative side as well, exercising his creativity in the kitchen, cooking, baking, and cake decorating. His cinnamon rolls and cookies will be remembered fondly by his family. He was interested in theater and loved the play “Camelot” when he was growing up. His interest in theater was passed to his youngest son as well and he loved seeing him perform. Jason was a lifelong dog lover beginning with his first pup Misty and continuing with Haven, Bonnie and Clyde. Some of his other interests included Star Trek, playing poker, golfing, and reading.

Jason’s most valued gift in life was his family. He reminisced on trips taken to Canada in his younger years, vacations to Michigan, and time spent relaxing on the beach. He cherished building memories with his wife and children. Jason will be remembered as a man who genuinely cared for those around him and placed the needs of others above himself.
