Obituary for Jerome Harold Wiggins

Jerome Harold Wiggins, age 48, of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 6, 2022 At SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.

Jerome was born on July 31, 1973 in Chicago, Ill., a son of Wayne and Inez Alexander.

Jerome had a huge heart for animals and was selfless to a fault. He demonstrated this in his work as a caregiver at the Animal Shelter where he was employed.

Jerome had a big interest in old school cars and video games and was a very skilled darts and pool player. He was able to clear his mind in nature and could often be found with a line in the water going crappie fishing at one of his favorite fishing spots, Binder Lake.

Jerome was a family man and was dedicated to making sure that his children and grandchildren had the best life possible. He was a giving and selfless soul and lived a life of acceptance, love, and support. He had a larger-than-life personality, a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. Most of all, Jerome cherished the time and memories that he made with his family. He made it a point to check in with everyone and was truly concerned with their wellbeing. Jerome will be missed for his ability to love without condition, find common ground with people from all walks of life and express his care and concern for his family no matter the time or distance that separated them.

Survivors include: two children, James Downs of Holts Summit, Mo., and Megan Hentges (husband, Dustin) of Lohman, Mo.; the mother of his children, Melissa Swan of Holts Summit, Mo.; three siblings, Wayne Alexander, Jr. (wife, Tara) of Pasadena, Md., Dwayne Alexander of Little Rock, Ark., and Trikesha Alexander of Petersburg, Va.; uncles, Ricky Alexander (wife, Brenda) of Chester, Va., and Leon Alexander (wife, Diane) of Petersburg, Va.; seven grandchildren, Remmington, Annabella, Phoenix, Delilah, Jessabelle, Azrael, and Robert; and several nieces and nephews.

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.

A celebration of Jerome’s life will be held at a later date.
