Obituary for Jeron L. Sandbothe

Mr. Jeron L. Sandbothe, age 82, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Jeron was born on June 29, 1940, in Argyle, Mo., a son of Lee Herman and Lottie Kathleen “Kat” (Murphy) Sandbothe. He was married on August 5, 1967, in Koelztown, Mo. to Shirley Ann Kloeppel, who survives.

A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Jeron was a 1958 graduate of Fatima High School. After high school, he served in the United States Air Force for several years until he was honorably discharged in 1964. He was always proud of his service to our country.

Jeron was employed for over 35 years with the Division of Employment Security until his retirement in 1998. For the majority of his career, he worked as a computer programmer writing code and witnessed remarkable technological advancements unfolding during his career. In the early days of his programming endeavors he manually transcribed COBOL code onto paper.

Jeron was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He had an insatiable love for music, amassing an impressive collection of LP and CD albums that spanned various genres and eras. Whenever the St. Louis Cardinals took to the baseball field, you could find Jeron attending opening day at Busch Stadium or tuning into the TV or radio. His mood often fluctuated with their wins or losses. He was a talking encyclopedia regarding statistics on Cardinals baseball. Prior to his retirement, he enjoyed bowling on leagues at Rainbow Lanes with friends and co-workers. In his retirement years, Jeron maintained a healthy lifestyle by embarking on daily three-mile walks, and enjoyed watching old westerns, James Bond movies, and his favorite news channels.

Jeron's love for his family was unwavering and held a special place in his heart. He was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, always there to support his children and grandchildren in every activity or event they participated in. He never missed a birthday and enjoyed celebrating with family dinners. He looked forward to card games with family most Friday nights where his competitive spirit came out. He was always ready for a road trip and created great memories on family vacations to Florida, Alabama, Colorado, Tennessee, and visiting Six Flags through the years.

Jeron found solace in his specific daily routines, which made him resolute and steadfast in his ways. Even though he possessed a quiet demeanor, family will remember the constant love he showed them through his presence and support.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley Sandbothe; three children, Michele Fritchey (Rob) of Henley, Mo., Greg Sandbothe (Kim) of Wardsville, Mo. and Jennifer Schulte (Paul Bax) of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, David Sandbothe (Carol) of Jefferson City, Mo.; four grandchildren, Kristin Ridenhour (Zach), Dalton Fritchey (Kaitlyn Doza), Cole Sandbothe and Kaitlyn Sandbothe; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt Ridenhour, Emma Ridenhour and Cordell Fritchey; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Kempker (Lennie) and Karen Engle (Gordon); four brothers-in-law, Ronnie Kloeppel (Paralee), Kenny Kloeppel (Pam), Tommy Kloeppel, and Maurice Forck (Brenda Lee); and numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.
