Mr. Jerry Howard “Jake” Widner, age 73 years, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away November 24, 2018 at the University Hospital surrounded by his family.

Jake was born on May 2, 1945 in Thorn Creek County, Indiana a son of Howard J. and Anna R. (Bullhoeffer) Widner. He was married on February 29, 1984 in Ballantine, Montana to Judy Marie Yakel.

He was a 1964 graduate of Bunceton High School, Bunceton, Mo.

Jake was employed as a oven operator for Interstate Brands – Sweetheart Bakery for over 25 years in Billings, Montana. After his retirement, he moved to Jefferson City, Mo.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed time working in his shop tackling a project or welding. He could be found outside racing pigeons, gardening, or just taking in the outdoors. He cherished his time traveling to the National Parks with family to sightsee and be outdoors.

Jake was a true family man and his main priority was spending time with them. He especially loved being a grandpa and going to his grandson, Gio’s, soccer games and karate meets.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Judy Widner; five children, Scott Widner of Louisville, Kentucky, Johnny Widner of Billings, Montana, Tamara Lineback of Billings, Montana, Colleen Gilling of Jefferson City, Missouri and Conni Thon (husband Robert) of Billings, Montana; four brothers, Mark Widner (wife Betty) of St. Joseph, Mo., Leeroy Widner (wife Janet) of Lone Elm, Missouri, Ralph Widner (wife Judy) of St. Joseph, Mo. and Dean Widner of Speed, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Bryce Widner, Lucas Widner, Autumn Lineback, Giovoni Cooper, Felica Hoffer, Sterling Hoffer and Jake Hoffer; five great-grandchildren, Makyla Widner, Dominic Walter, Matthew Walter, Mark Widner and Alexia Heppler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Anne Kempf; and one brother, Hugh Widner.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Jerry Widner Memorial Fund.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
