Obituary for Joe L. Hutinger

Mr. Joe Lee Hutinger, age 63, of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.

Joe was born on September 5, 1958 in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Ralph Clinton Sr. and Emma Lee (Willmeno) Hutinger. He was married on July 18, 1981 at Immaculate Conception Church in Jefferson City to Deborah Elaine (Strope) Hutinger who survives at the home.

A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Joe was a graduate of Jefferson City High School.

He began his working career as a Laborer at the Power Plant and held various other jobs but the past 35 years, he has been employed at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital where he worked in the maintenance department.

Joe was a kind and gentle man, and he would do anything for anyone. He didn’t complain and handled life’s challenges with grace. Joe made friends anywhere he went, and he loved attending air shows and taking trips to the Lake of the Ozarks. He made sure to always check in on his friends and family, seeing if there was anything he could help with. Joe was a jack of all trades and enjoyed tinkering on anything he could get his hands on. He was great on the grill and enjoyed BBQ’s, cooking, and smoking meats.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Deborah of Holts Summit, Mo.; three siblings, Bill Hutinger (wife, Mary Lou) of Holts Summit, Mo., Ralph Hutinger, Jr. of Holts Summit, Mo., and Debbie Carel (husband, Dick) of Holts Summit, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Hutinger; and nephew, Darin Carel.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Joe Hutinger Memorial Fund to be utilized to assist with Funeral Costs.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
