Obituary for John Henderson

Mr. John Lee Henderson, 70, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at his home.

He was born February 22, 1951 in Jefferson City, to Homer and Rosemary (Able) Henderson. John was a 1969 graduate of Helias High School.

He began his career as a meat cutter with Safeway and went on to work as a driver for Schwann’s and later with Canteen Vending Services retiring in 2017.

In his past time, John enjoyed acquiring pieces for his stamp collection, and enjoyed British cars. He was also a fan of science fiction, especially "Doctor Who", a British science fiction television program since 1963.

John will be missed by his family and also his friends at Dudley’s, where they met every morning.

Survivors include: his children, Shea Henderson (Angela) of California, Mo. and Heather McGhee (Brendan) of Dardenne Prairie, Mo.; siblings, Mike Henderson (Valarie) of Jefferson City, Greg Henderson (Jamie) of Columbia, Joseph Henderson (Cindy) of Jefferson City, and Jane Gregory of Jefferson City; and grandchildren, Ella and Grant Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, James Henderson.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 3:00 pm Sunday, May 16, 2021. Everyone is welcome to attend the visitation while following social distancing guidelines.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the John Henderson Memorial Fund.
