Obituary for Juanita McDaniel

Juanita M. McDaniel, age 97, of St. Charles, Mo., passed away Friday, July 1, 2022 at McClay Senior Care in St. Peters, Mo.

Juanita was born on March 9, 1925 in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Homer and Nora Mae (Bogle) Gregory. She was married on February 9, 1944 to Marvin Henry McDaniel who preceded her in death on October 10, 2010.

A true homemaker, Juanita took pride in caring for her family. She supported her husband during his career and her daughters in all their activities as they grew up. Juanita enjoyed road trips with family and orchestrating plans for her family to visit. She enjoyed cooking for family gatherings, especially at Christmas time when she was famous for her delicious pies and flavorful brisket. After raising her family, she became a property manager in the real estate industry for over ten years.

Juanita was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan and also looked forward to time working in her yard. She expertly manicured her home landscaping, always assuring that the leaves were raked and all other aspects were perfectly maintained. Due to her ill health, she moved to St. Charles recently to live with her daughter and she cherished time watching the birds in the backyard.

Juanita was an independent and kind hearted woman with a contagious smile. Above all, she will be remembered as a supportive and dedicated wife, mother and grandma, who displayed unconditional love for her family.

Survivors include: her daughter, Kay Tudor of St. Charles, Mo.; her grandson, John Kitchens (wife, Amy) of New Bloomfield, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Jak, Annalyn and Eavie Kitchens; four nephews, Marvin Gregory, Larry Gregory, Brad Gregory and Kevin McDaniel; and one niece, Joyce Smithmier.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, Marvin; a daughter, Carol Doss on January 7, 2001; two infant twins, Robert Ray McDaniel and Nelda Mae McDaniel; her brother, Elmer “Bud” Gregory and his wife Cathy; and a brother-in-law, Clifford McDaniel and his wife Elva.

A private graveside service will be held at Riverview Cemetery with her grandson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary.
