Obituary for Juanita E. Muck

Mrs. Juanita Elizabeth Muck, age 96, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Capital Region Medical Center.

Juanita was born on September 14, 1924 in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Victor and Alma (Hess) Heinrich. She was married on September 9, 1950 in Jefferson City, Mo. to the late Oscar W. Muck, Jr.

A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Juanita was a 1942 graduate of Jefferson City High School.

Juanita was employed as the secretary for the classified and display advertising department with Jefferson City News Tribune until 1952. When her first son was born, she became a homemaker for the rest of her life and did a tremendous job of supporting her husband and three sons in their activities. For many years she also worked as a poll worker at West School.

Juanita’s spiritual journey was very important to her, and she enjoyed sharing the love of Jesus with everyone, especially younger kids. Juanita was a lifelong member of Central United Church of Christ where she sang in both the Junior and Senior choirs. She was a member of the Women’s Fellowship, a 60-year member of the Eleventh Circle and she was the pianist in the Kindergarten Sunday School class for 15 years.

Juanita will be remembered for her servant’s heart and always putting other’s needs in front of hers. She was incredible at showing amazing love towards family and friends. Juanita was a talented cook, and loved family gathering, especially later in life when the grandchildren were around. She never missed sending birthday cards to family members or lifting spirits during other times in the year. She enjoyed tending to her beautiful flower garden and sewing.

Survivors include: three sons, Darryl Muck (wife, Shirley) of Kingsport, Tn., Gary Muck of Creve Coeur, Mo. and Duane Muck (wife, Debbie) of Hartsburg, Mo; one sister, Gladys Gladden of Jefferson City, Mo; four grandchildren, Lea Muck, Kayla Wilbers (husband, Ryan), Amiee Meyer (husband, Steve) and Elizabeth Schieffler (husband, David); and four great-grandchildren, Jada and Emmy Wilbers, and Dawson and Ella Meyer.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Oscar.

Visitation will be held at Central United Church of Christ from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2020. The general public is welcome to attend the visitation and the family has requested anyone in attendance to wear a protective mask.

Due to the pandemic, a private funeral service will follow her visitation at Central United Church of Christ with the Reverend Dr. Judith Scott officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at the Evangelical section at Riverview Cemetery.

A webcast of her service can be viewed at 11:15 a.m. Saturday for friends and extended family that are not able to attend by going to her memorial page on Freeman Mortuary’s website.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Central United Church of Christ, 118 W. Ashley Street, Jefferson City, Mo. 65101. Friends may mail sympathy cards to the funeral home or leave condolences online to be given to her family.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
