Obituary for Judith L. Mobrice

Judith Lynn Mobrice, age 74, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023, in Stockton, Mo.

She was born on December 31, 1948, the daughter of William “Glenn” and Marceline Anne (Bacon) Patterson. She was married on September 28, 1991, in Rocheport, Mo. to Dennis Michael Mobrice who preceded her in passing on June 19, 2017.

Judy was a 1966 graduate of Jefferson City High School and then went on to further her education at Columbia College, graduating in 1988.

Judy accepted a position with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and later retired in 2002 after dedicating many years as an Environmental Specialist.

A woman of strong faith, Judy maintained strong Christian values within her family. She and Dennis attended First United Methodist Church in Jefferson City, Mo. for many years.

Judy was artistic and had a knack for all things creative. She used this talent to craft beautiful and detailed scrapbooks to commemorate trips, life events and the love of family. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, listening to The Beatles, and treating herself to a little retail therapy. She wouldn’t call herself an outdoorswoman, but she held fond memories of time spent at the family cabin in Hickory Hill, Mo. and taking her grandchildren for nature walks at Runge Nature Center. In the fall she and Dennis journeyed to New England where they beheld the picturesque scenery, painted by the earthtones of autumn.

Above all Judy was a present and attentive mother and a grandmother with an affinity for spoiling the grandkids. She had a shy and quiet demeanor but those close to her felt her love in the way she cared for them.

Survivors include: her daughter, Kimberly Johnson (Stephen) of Jefferson City, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Sarah Johnson, and Matthew Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Glenn “Bill” Patterson, II.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Freeman Mortuary.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2023, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Samuel Powell officiating. Committal services and inurnment will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
