Obituary for Karla S. Prosser

Karla Sue Prosser, age 63 years, of Centertown, Mo., passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022, at SSM Health DePaul Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

She was born on July 4, 1959 in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Karl Stephen and Betty Jean (Hickman) Baker. She was married on November 18, 2013 in Sedalia, Mo. to Gary Heet who survives in the home.

A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Karla was a 1977 graduate of Jefferson City High School. She was employed in clerical positions with Quality Drywall and the Builder’s Association.

Karla was a humble, compassionate and generous person. A natural caregiver, she selflessly took on the role of caring for many family members in their times of need and was dedicated to helping others. The old saying “live for today” was one she truly displayed; she greeted all with a smile, led with her heart, and did the little things that brought her joy, such as cultivating her impressive flower beds. She loved visiting family in Florida and relaxing on the beach, casino trips with the girls and soaking up the love of her dogs along with any other dog that got close enough for her to love on. At any event, Karla was excited to bring food and was always on the set up and clean up committee so everyone else could enjoy the festivities. Above all Karla was dedicated to her grandchildren, traveling countless miles to attend and support any activity they were involved in. She was a loving and thoughtful social butterfly with a stubborn streak but to those who knew her best, Karla was a guardian angel on Earth.

Karla was a woman of strong faith and was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City. She also was a leader of the Woodcrest Chapel program, Thrive. A member of the National Association of Women in Construction and served as a Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Cemetery board member.

Survivors include: her loving husband, Gary Heet of Centertown, Mo.; one daughter, Natalie Baroli (husband, Hayes) of Columbia, Mo.; one brother, Steve Baker of Punta Gorda, Fl.; seven grandchildren, Ava, Madison, Finlee, C. J., Raelynn, Gracie and Maddox; and an honorary daughter, Jessica Lairmore (husband, Slim).

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Stephen Perrey.
