Obituary for Kim Wheeler

Mr. Kim D. Wheeler, 65, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at home with family by his side.

Kim was born on July 20, 1956 in Jefferson City, a son of the late Gene and Vivia Lee (Briant) Wheeler. On November 18, 1994 he married Pamela F. Lane at First Baptist Church in Jefferson City.

A 1974 graduate of Jefferson City High School, Kim was employed with Missouri Department of Transportation for 34 years, retiring 2009.

On March 4, 1992, Kim suffered an accident that left him visually impaired but renewed his faith in the Lord and spirit of himself. Although there were things he could no longer do, he taught his new wife to hunt while he would field dress, butcher and process the meat. He would bike the Katy trail from Jefferson City to Rocheport often to make a statement about his abilities and self-strength. Kim also challenged himself by building his own shed and perfected the process of moonshine for fun and friends. He never gave up on life and was always challenging himself and his loved ones by continuing his woodworking, target shooting, and being the neighborhood lawn care keeper. Kim helped out with tree and hedge trimming, gutter cleaning, and lawn care along with miscellaneous needs and requests.

He was a fifth generation member of the First Baptist Church, the Federation of the Blind, and the United Sportsmen’s Club.

Kim is survived by: his loving wife of 27 years, Pamela F. Wheeler; daughter, Amy Wheeler of California; sons, Matthew Wheeler (Tabitha Flatt) of Linn, Christopher Wheeler of California; brother, Stephen Wheeler (Mary) of Lohman; sister, Pam K. Wheeler of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Ryan Wheeler and Maddyson Wheeler; a host of nieces and nephews; a host of great-nieces and nephews; one great-great niece; and his spoiled cat, Penny.
