Obituary for Larry Estes

Mr. Larry Gene Estes, age 73 years, of Osage City, Mo., passed away on September 20, 2020 at his home.

Larry was born on December 12, 1946 in Columbia, Mo., the son of Harry M. and Bessie A. (Hawkins) Estes.

A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Larry graduated from Fulton High School. After graduation, Larry proudly served our country in the United States Air Force.

Larry was a hard worker. He was a member of the Laborers Union, and did concrete and construction work for many different businesses.

Larry had a passion for being outdoors. He loved going fishing and spending time with his friends on the Osage River. Larry was also a very talented cook, and he made the best cheesecakes. He was very friendly, outgoing and wouldn’t hesitate to give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need.

Survivors include: two sons, Mark Johnson of Fulton, Mo., and John Estes (wife, Bonnie) of Jefferson City, Mo; one daughter, Shirley Estes (husband, Mike) of Great Falls, Mt; three brothers, George Davidson (wife, Carol) of Fulton, Mo., Randy Estes (wife, Edie) of Kingdom City, Mo., and Glen Ray Crowley (wife, Donna) of Columbia, Mo; two sisters, Kay Terrio (husband, Bill) of St. Robert’s, Mo and Suzie Crowley of Columbia, Mo.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by: his parents; one nephew, Edward Estes; and one niece, Mandy Estes.

Graveside services and military honors will be conducted at Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton, Mo. on Monday, September 28, 2020 at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Larry Estes Memorial Fund.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
