Obituary for Larry Jett

Mr. Larry Dale Jett, age 61, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Saturday February 11, 2023 at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on June 4, 1961 in St. Louis, Mo. a son of Carl Eugene and Bettie Fay (Bolinger). Larry was a 1979 graduate of Jefferson City High School. Following his education, he was dedicated to working hard. He worked as a cook for Sonic and Burger Inn, a driver for Emery Worldwide Delivery Service, and a floor polisher for various buildings in Jefferson City, including the Missouri Capital. Perhaps his most loved position was School Bus Driver for Kirschner State School where he absolutely adored his bus riders.

Larry had several loves in life. Classic cars and trucks, especially his prized red ’57 Chevy, and Classic rock, country and gospel music being among them. He had an incredible natural talent for creating music. He was skilled at playing the guitar and had a beautiful voice. Music was a passion he inherited from his father and then passed along to his son. Larry enjoyed pitching horseshoes, playing cards and board games, mastering the grill, and indulging with one of his favorite snacks, potato chips or ice cream. He was intelligent, caring, and helpful, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He was strong willed and opinionated with a soft spot for his mother whom he called “his Angel” due to her constant caretaking and concern for his wellbeing. His favorite way to relax and reflect was the front porch, where he could watch the birds and enjoy the fresh air and sounds of nature. Larry was dedicated to building a strong relationship with his sons and cherished his grandchildren.

Survivors include: his two sons, Tommy Lee Jett (wife, Sherry) and Buddy Alan Jett both of Jefferson City, Mo.; his mother, Bettie Jett of Jefferson City, Mo.; three siblings, Robert Jett, (wife, Martha), Brenda Luadzers (husband, Thomas) and Rick Jett all of Jefferson City, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Maggie and Jackson Jett.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Jett; brother, Gary Wayne Jett; and grandparents, Lawrence and Nancy Bolinger and Chester and Nada Jett.

A celebration of life service will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Holts Summit Civic Center Friday, February 17, 2023. Larry’s family will be laying him to rest with a private service at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Holts Summit, Mo.
