Lillie Pearl Roark, age 92 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Adam’s Street Place surrounded by family.
Lillie was born January 29, 1928 in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Lemuel and Bertha (Shanks) Basnett. She was married on December 26, 1942 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Raymond P. “Dick” Roark who preceded her in death on December 1, 1978.
Lillie was employed for ten years with the Tweedies Shoe Factory and then went to work for McGraw Edison for another ten years. She retired from Chesebrough-Ponds to be a homemaker the rest of her life to her four children.
Lillie will be remembered for her love of family and her strong faith. Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren. She attended every event and celebration to cheer on family and more importantly, she was there during any struggle to help lift spirits. She was a wonderful cook and always willing to help care for her grandchildren. Her family has great memories at their lake cabin and many family gatherings through the years.
She possessed a remarkable faith and was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Jefferson City when she was younger. For the past 30 years, she has been a member of First Assembly of God. Her faith was always the guiding light in her life and helped define her thoughts, love and concern for others.
The last few years, Lillie has been living at Adams Street Place and she has made some great friends. She was even their Valentine’s Queen one year and the family appreciates all the love and care she received from their staff.
Survivors include: four children, Donald “Donnie” Roark (wife Chris), Pamela Moyer (husband Craig), Richard “Dickie” Roark (wife Wanda) and Keith Roark (wife Janet), all of Jefferson City, Mo.; three brothers, William Basnett of Jefferson City, Mo., Paul Basnett (wife Phyllis) of Lebanon, Mo. and Larry Basnett (wife Joyce) of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Dorothy Whittle of Jefferson City, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Sarah Basnett of Jefferson City, Mo. and Nellie Schmidt of Kansas City, Mo.; twelve grandchildren, Heather Herigon (husband Mitch), Scott Skinner (wife Beth), Brad Roark (wife Natalie), Shelly Drake (husband Brian), Brent Roark, Paul Moyer (wife Jessica), Brooke Thomas (husband Dustin), Laura Scheuler (husband Cody), Greta Roark, Georgia Roark, Mia Roark and Nate Roark; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews..
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 35 years, Dick; one brother, Lemuel Basnett; one sister, Betty Dunavant; and an infant sister, Juanita Basnett.
Visitation will be at First Assembly of God from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2020. The general public is welcome to attend the visitation and protective masks will be available for any family or friends that feel appropriate to wear.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday December 9, 2020 at First Assembly of God with the Reverend Lowell Perkins officiating. Graveside service and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
