Linda Fair Schwartz, age 83 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, March 8, 2021 at Capital Region Medical Center surrounded by family.

Linda was born on January 21, 1938 in St. Louis, Mo. She was married on May 7, 1960 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Robert Schwartz, who preceded her in death in November 1998.

Linda was a 1956 graduate of Jefferson City High School. She was employed with Central Bank for a few years before deciding she was meant to be home caring for her family. She became a homemaker and never looked back.

Linda was a woman of faith and a prior member of the Central United Church of Christ for many years. Recently she had the opportunity to take her place as a founding member of Oasis United Church of Christ and she was blessed to call it her church home.

Linda was a shopaholic, never passing up an opportunity for retail therapy. She loved fashion and was always perfectly accessorized with big earrings and purses. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays, especially when she could dig into her Irish Roots for St. Patrick’s Day. Linda grew up riding and traveling by train, and she even collected a few trains of her own over the years.

Linda was a very generous and giving person, enjoyed a healthy debate and loved things to be neat and tidy. She had lists for her lists and was always perfectly organized. Linda cherished the conversations and laughter she shared with others, and she firmly believed that laughter added to your years.

Survivors include: one daughter, Lisa Toler (husband, Paul) of Raymore, Mo; three grandchildren, Carly Toler of Raymore, Mo., Jacob Toler of Greenwood, Mo., and Landon Toler of Columbia, Mo; her significant other, Roger Scrivner of Jefferson City, Mo.; one grand-dog, Ellie; and many nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Freeman Mortuary. The general public is welcome to attend the visitation while following social distancing guidelines. Please stay 6 feet apart and avoid close contact. Anyone is welcome and encouraged to wear personal masks or other personal protective equipment while in attendance.

Funeral services for Linda will be conducted at 12:00 pm Saturday, March 13, 2021 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Rushan Sinnaduray officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

A webcast of the funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm Saturday, March 13, 2021 for friends that are not able to attend by going to her memorial page on Freeman Mortuary’s website. Friends may mail sympathy cards to the funeral home or leave condolences online to be given to her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Oasis United Church of Christ, 2017 William Street, Jefferson City, Mo. 65109.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

I just saw where my friend of many years passed away last week. Linda and I went to the same church as children and she graduated a year after I did. I should have graduated that year too, but I took two grades in one year during grade school so graduated with my brother Ralph in 1955. On Occasion when I would return to Jefferson City, I would see Linda at church where we would visit after church was over. I have fond memories of her.

My sympathy to her family. My prayers are with the family as the days go forward as I know you will miss her greatly.

Except for two years, I have lived in TX since I married in 1962. Venita Mueller Tuggle

When my mom told me about your mom’s passing I was so shocked. I have many fond memories of spending time in your house when we were growing up. And my mom and your mom spending lots of time together laughing over playing tennis and driving lessons. And she spoke often to my mom about all of you with such pride and joy. I know how much you will miss her. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Lisa - I can't believe Linda is gone. She and I shared so many memories from our teen years to our 80's. I especially enjoyed her visits to Lee's Summit in the summer while Jim was riding the Katy Trail. We called each other "summer sisters". She was a great friend and the glue that held the remaining members of the JC Class of '56 together. I can't think of anyone who enjoyed life more. Her family was especially important to her and she loved telling me about her grandchildren. We aren't attending group activities yet because of Covid but will be thinking of you on Saturday. Perhaps you and I can get together this summer and share memories of Linda. I would really like that. I send you my sympathy and my love. Ruth Ann Case
