Obituary for Lois L. Jones

Mrs. Lois Louise Jones, age 80, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Lois was born on a hot summer day, August 1, 1942, in the family home in Bell City, Mo., the daughter of Valentine Richard and Mildred Lurean (Holder) Frala. She grew up helping on the family farm and developed a great work ethic from a young age.

She was united in marriage to Albert Foreman with whom she had Scott and later with Tom Wood to which she had Travis. After years apart, on March 25, 1989, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Bucky J.C. Jones, and they shared many years together.

Lois was a 1960 graduate of Gray Ridge High School where she proudly served as the Drum Majorette for her high school band, on the student council, and participated in the high school dramas.

She enrolled in the Ozark Beauty College at Poplar Bluff, Mo., to become a beautician. When she passed her state board of cosmetology and acquired her license, she was employed with Aggie’s Beauty Shoppe in Sikeston, Mo. After Lois left Aggie’s Beauty Shoppe, she began working in factories and secured a job with Elder Manufacturing Company.

She was a strong woman and worked hard to provide for her two sons as a single mom. Lois enjoyed every moment with her boys and could be found playing baseball with them when younger. Later in life she looked forward to spending time with Travis at Binder Lake while watching the geese and letting the dogs run about. She always had a soft spot in her heart of animals and cared for many dogs throughout her life.

One of Lois’ favorite places was the farm that her and Bucky acquired in Bonne Terre, Mo., that was lovingly named the B.L.T. Ranch. She helped tend to all the animals and even had a bull that she favored. She cherished being on the farm until Bucky preceded her in death.

Lois was known for her caring heart which was evident when she worked for several years in home healthcare near Bonne Terre. She moved back to the Jefferson City area to help care for her sister, Jean until her passing.

Survivors include: two sons, Steven Scott Foreman (Robin) of Altus, Oklahoma and Travis Wood of Jefferson City, Mo.; two brothers, Ron Frala (Judy) of Holts Summit, Mo. and Terry Frala (Marie) of Murfreesboro, Tn.; three grandchildren, Steven Scott Foreman, Jr. (Monique), Richard Albert Foreman (Becca) and Nathan Taylor Wood; three great-grandchildren, Richard “R.J.” Foremen, Jr., Trevor Foreman and Zoe Trout; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Bucky Jones and Albert Foreman; and two siblings, Jean Frala and John Frala.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery - Bloomfield, 17357 Stars and Stripes Way, Bloomfield, Mo., 63825.
