Obituary for LucyAnn Bailey
Mrs. LucyAnn Bailey, age 93, of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, surrounded by her loving daughters at Valley Park Retirement Center.
She was born on December 29, 1927 in Argyle, Mo., a daughter of the late John and Martha Hagenhoff.
At the age of 14, LucyAnn moved to Jefferson City where she remained her entire life. She was married on June 1, 1946 at Immaculate Conception Church to Guy E. Bailey, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1998.
She attended St. Aloysius Catholic Grade School through the eighth grade. LucyAnn started her career with the International Shoe Factory. She went to work as the Manager of Food Service at South School and continued that position at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital until her retirement in 1992.
She was a member of St. Martin’s Catholic Church, a past member of St. Joseph Cathedral and was active in many parish prayer lines.
LucyAnn enjoyed cooking for her family and they still enjoy her recipes! Most of all, she cherished time with her family, especially her children. She spent many hours with her children’s spelling list at the end of her ironing board as she took in ironings to supplement the family income. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Survivors include: two daughters, Diann Jacobs of Camdenton, Mo., and Mary Slinkard of Holts Summit, Mo.; one son, George Bailey of St. James City, Fl.; one sister, Josephine Wolken of Jefferson City, Mo; eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Guy; daughter, Judy Ann Hauck, brothers, Bernard and Lawrence Hagenhoff and sister, Nilda Wegman.
Friends will be received, practicing social distancing guidelines, from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Jason Doke officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery.
A webcast of the service will begin at 11:00 AM Tuesday for friends that are not able to attend by going to her memorial page on Freeman Mortuary’s website. Friends may mail sympathy cards to the funeral home or leave condolences online to be given to her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Martin’s Catholic School.
