Obituary

Marceline A. “Marcie” Branum, age 95, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Heisinger Bluffs.

Marcie was born on October 31, 1924 in Argyle, Mo., the daughter of Edwin and Genevieve (Renfert) Wildhaber. She was married on May 15, 1946 in Argyle, Mo. to Ralph E. Branum, who preceded her in death on March 9, 2015.

A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Marcie attended grade school in Argyle and was a 1941 graduate of Argyle High School.

After moving to Jefferson City, she worked for the Division of Employment Security for over 20 years. During many of those years, Marcie also helped operate her husband’s service stations in downtown Jefferson City, Branum’s Shell Service and Branum’s Sinclair Station.

She was an active member of Immaculate Conception in Jefferson City. Marcie sang in their choir and was a member of the Immaculata Club and the Legion of Mary through the church.

Marcie was gifted at sewing, crocheting and making quilts. Her grandchildren were each blessed to receive a quilt from her. She loved to garden, plant flowers and landscape. She searched for and placed many “pretty” rocks around their family cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks. Some of her favorite memories were at the cabin at the Lake where they spent many summers.

Marcie will be remembered for her generosity and supportive nature. Marcie cherished any activity that revolved around spending time with family and friends. Many of these times include large family gatherings where she would cook wonderful meals and share her fabulous pies, a good game of cut-throat pitch, or when she would beat everyone at dominos. She enjoyed many roads trips throughout the United States with family and trips to visit her family in Alaska.

Survivors include: her daughter, Charlotte “Susie” Moody (husband Michael) of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter-in-law, Mary Branum of Jefferson City, Mo.; two siblings, Bernice “Sis” Schmitz of Westphalia, Mo. and Kenneth Wildhaber of Jefferson City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Craig Branum (wife Anita), Chuck Branum (wife Christine), Ryan Moody (wife Melissa), Katie Moody and Sarah Moody; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Anne Wildhaber; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marcie was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 68 years, Ralph; her son, Richard E. Branum; her siblings, Doris Wankum, Ralph Wildhaber and Francis “Franny” Wildhaber; brothers-in-law, Victor Schmitz and Greg Wankum; and sisters-in-law, Arlene Wildhaber and Laurine Wildhaber.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Church. The general public is welcome to attend the visitation while following social distancing guidelines.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Church with the Reverend Don Antweiler officiating. Graveside services and entombment will be held at the Mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Samaritan Center, 1310 E. McCarty Street, Jefferson City, Mo. 65101 or to Immaculate Conception Church for Masses, 1206 E McCarty St, Jefferson City, MO 65101.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary.
